Canny is built so there is almost nothing to say here — and that's the point. Your money is your business, and it stays on your phone.

What we collect

Nothing about your money, ever. Canny has no user accounts and no servers of its own for your budget data. The information you enter — transactions, categories, goals, balances — is stored only in your phone's local app storage. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.

The one thing we do send

The first time you open Canny after installing it, the app sends a single, empty request to a small counter we run — that's it, nothing else, and it doesn't happen again on later opens. There is:

• No device ID, account, name, or IP address attached — the request carries no identifying information at all, so it can never be traced back to you individually.
• No content — the request is empty. It doesn't say what phone you have, what you've budgeted, or anything about how you use the app.
• Just one number ticking up — on our side, all this does is add 1 to a running total (and to a per-day total), so we can see roughly how many people install Canny and actually open it, versus just downloading the file and never trying it.

This is the only network request Canny ever makes. If you're offline the first time you open the app, it simply tries again next launch until it succeeds once — after that, it never sends anything again.

No bank linking

Unlike many budgeting apps, Canny never asks for your online banking login and never connects to your bank or any financial data provider. You type in what you spend; nothing is pulled in automatically.

No third parties

Canny contains no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and no social or tracking libraries. The one-time install ping above goes to a server we run ourselves — not to any ad network, analytics company, or data broker — and carries no data to hand to anyone even if it did.

Your data, your control

• You can export a copy of your data at any time as a plain file (Plan → Export backup).
• You can erase everything in the app (Plan → Reset all data).
• Uninstalling Canny removes all of its data from your device.

Because your data never leaves your device, there is no server-side copy for us to hold, lose, or be asked to delete.

Children

Canny is a general-audience budgeting tool and is not directed at children. As it collects no data, it collects none from anyone, regardless of age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
